Euphorbiaceae del Quindío

The diversity of biological entities in any geographical scale varies depends of multiple factors, biological and environmental ones. The study of the vegetation, in a taxonomic way give us a interesting point of the approximation of which is the diversity of one site and permits compare it with other areas. Euphorbiaceae is a great family, in number of species, genus, morphological variation, habit adaptations and evolutionary aspects. For long time usually this is relegated by botanist and the mastery of the taxonomic knowledge is very low in term of people that work on it. This book is a approximation to the study of this fascinating group in one of the smallest state of Colombia, Quindío, where are included all species found in their mountains, watersheds, guaduales and coffee lands. Include the registry of 40 species, 29 of non-cultivated species have its morphological description, 7 identification keys for the genus Acalypha, Alchornea, Chamaesyce, Croton, Dalechampia, Euphorbia and Mabea, generic etymologies, habitat commentaries and bibliographic information about all Euphorbiaceae from Quindío.

La diversidad de las entidades biológicas varía espacialmente dependiendo de múltiples factores, biológicos y ambientales. El estudio de la vegetación, de una forma taxonómica, nos brinda un punto muy interesante de aproximarnos a conocer la diversidad de un sitio y nos permite comparla con otros. Euphorbiaceae es una gran familia, en número de especies y´géneros, diversidad morfológica, adaptaciones a habitats y aspectos evolutivos. Por un periodo largo de tiempo, esta usualmente es dejada atrás por muchos botánicos y el dominio en e conocimiento taxonómico de estas es muy bajo, siendo correlativo al número de personas que la trabajan. En este libro se registra el estudio de este grupo facinante en uno de los estados más pequeños de Colombia, Quindío, en donde se incluyen todas las especies encontradas en sus montañas, cuencas, guaduales y cafetales. Incluye el registro de 40 especies, 29 de ellas que no son cultivadas presentan una extensa descripción morfológica, además se incluyen 7 claves de indentificación para los géneros Acalypha, Alchornea, Chamaesyce, Croton, Dalechampia, Euphorbia y Mabea, etimologías de los géneros, comentarios sobre el habitat e información bibiográfica relevante acerca de las Euphorbiaceae del Quindío.
